More information on Bristol

Overview

Bristol has a long heritage as a trading port, first being listed in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle of 1051.

This extensive trading history resulted Bristol becoming something of a cultural melting pot as ships sailed in from all around the globe full with exotic treasures.

The Bristol of today benefits from this rich cultural heritage and has a vibrant arts, food and music scene up there with any in the UK, with famous former residents including Massive Attack, Roni Size and Tricky, as well as Banksy.

Nightlife

Bristol really comes alive at night, making it perfect for your stag weekend. With over 500 bars and clubs there’s something for every style of stag do.

If you’re after the big club, big crowd experience then look no further than ‘Pryzm’ (formerly Oceana), the recent benefactor of a £1m refit, while ‘Rehab’ is set over three floors and fills up on the weekends.

Bristol has a bustling underground club scene if you’re looking for an alternative stag weekend. Clubs such as ‘Thekla’ -  a cargo ship moored in the Mud Dock area - have full and varied line-ups every weekend.

Getting here

As the gateway to the West Country, getting your stag party to Bristol couldn’t be easier. Bristol has an international airport, is under two hours away from London by car and in Bristol Temple Meads has the largest rail hub in the west of England.

Getting around

The bulk of Bristol’s attractions are located in a central area, making it perfect for your stag do to explore on foot.

If you want to travel further afield the good news is that Bristol is well served by buses, while if you’re looking for something different why not try the ferry service which connects all the main waterfront attractions.
